The project’s potential

The goal is to bring file analysis, local monitoring and reversible actions together in a clear desktop tool. The project targets macOS and Windows; documented runtime evidence concerns macOS. A firewall and complete pre-execution protection are not available features.

The technologies

Rust · Tauri · React · TypeScript

Rust for the core and Tauri for the desktop application. React and TypeScript compose the interface.

The YARA-X engine performs detection in a separate process. SHA-256 and BLAKE3 identify files, while SQLite stores local history. On macOS, FSEvents drives file monitoring and native providers enable supported actions only after the required checks.

Context and challenge

QuietShield explores a desktop experience with clear analysis, results and actions. The technical preview with documented runtime evidence is for macOS arm64.

The solution

The UI supports selecting files or folders, following progress and reviewing local history. The core and analysis processes are separated from the interface.

What it includes

Manual local scans without sending file contents to external servers.
Progress and results that distinguish incomplete analyses.
YARA-X detection and file structure checks, with separate analysis processes.
Event-driven macOS file monitoring with explicit status and limits.
SQLite history and reversible encrypted quarantine on macOS, subject to native provider checks.

Designing the interface

Interface work focuses on clear states, scan progress and accessible results. The portfolio shows actual macOS technical-preview screens: module capabilities, declared limits and file-analysis actions.

Prototype in development. Not available for commercial distribution; no claim of absolute protection or validated Windows functionality.
